Summary
DVCS is seeking a full-time third grade teacher for the 26’-27’ academic year. The hallmarks of the teaching environment at DVCS are excellence in academics inspired by a challenging classical curriculum with a biblical world-view; an uncluttered, disciplined atmosphere that focuses on high standards of Christian character; a partnership with supportive and involved parents, and strong collegiality and camaraderie among the faculty and staff.

Experience
Priority will be placed on applicants with both prior teaching experience in a classical Christian school and those who can implement the characteristics of a classical education—the integration of Christian faith and learning and the ability to show how God’s character is revealed through each subject of study.

Ideal Candidate Characteristics
The ideal candidate is passionate about God, children, and classical Christian education, and has a desire to cultivate wisdom and virtue in the souls of students through the classroom. He or she is a gifted and experienced teacher and joyful communicator, able to relate well to and appropriately challenge young students. The candidate will love reading, with and to students and will utilize grade appropriate, classical methods of assessment. The ability to shepherd students in the truth of God’s Word is vital.

Additionally, the ideal candidate possesses and exhibits the following attributes:

  • A deep Christian commitment, agreement with the DVCS Statement of Faith, an active church life, and desire to minister to both colleagues and students.
  • A vision and enthusiasm for classical Christian education, in particular in training the affections and the intellect of young students.
  • Demonstrated classical Christian pedagogical effectiveness.
  • Humility and relational wisdom.
  • Inquisitiveness, with evidence of a well-honed and well-directed curiosity.
  • A bachelor’s degree.
