Over ten years ago, our family joined DVCS (then Tall Oaks) in our quest to provide a Christian education for our six children. We are amazed at how our two graduates are going through college much better equipped than most of their peers. We love how classical education sees the vital importance of keeping Christ central in every subject, teaching Him as the foundation of how all things work together. We know of no other school in the area that provides all these ingredients of a solid education under one roof.

We have been supporters of DVCS (Tall Oaks) since our son attended. We had the joy of experiencing first-hand the power of a classical education and wanted that for our grandchildren. Since attending, they have become excited about learning. They have grown both spiritually and academically attending a school which emphasizes Christian character, hard work and discipline. Because classical education tailors the teaching methods to the learning stages of each age group, they enjoy school and cannot wait to tell us what they are learning. We feel blessed to see a second generation attending DVCS.

We were not familiar with classical education prior to hearing about DVCS. After one visit, we knew it was where we wanted our children to be educated. From the first year, our children experienced the foundation of faith, learning, and community that we longed to provide for them in a way that nurtures the whole person. For my parents’ wedding anniversary my sister made a surprise tribute video, where she asked all of the siblings the same question, “What is the greatest gift your parents have given you?” Independently, we all gave the same answer. It was our Christian education, which we received at this school. As a parent now, I am so grateful to be able to pass along the same Christ-centered education to my children that my parents gave to me. Educating our children in Christ is a fully immersive process, not a side hustle, that begins when we rise up in the morning and doesn’t end until we lie down at night. This is what classical Christian education is all about.

From the moment I arrived at Delaware Valley Classical School (formally Tall Oaks Classical School) I knew it was a community of which I wanted for my children. As committed homeschool parents, my husband and I were strong believers of God’s mandate for parents to teach and train their children. We were seeking a school to partner with us/come alongside us in our children’s educational journey. We were looking for a place that mimicked our philosophy that the evidence of God is in all areas- and should be taught as such-not simply in a Bible class. We wanted our children to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners. We are so thankful God led us to DVCS/TOCS. My oldest child was in the 9th grade. I was amazed by the student’s confidence and oratory skills. I said to the headmaster, “I don’t think my son will be able to do that.” I remember his response, “he can not do this now but he will be able to.” I remember the pride my husband and I had watching our three children present their thesis and witnessing their transformation from small acorns to Tall Oaks![/expand]

We came to the Delaware Valley Classical School community when we were looking to transition from home schooling to a more structured environment. DVCS has provided a beautifully unique and nurturing family-like culture. God is honored. Academic excellence is pursued. The arts are celebrated. Athletics are done competitively in the context of good sportsmanship… training the body and the soul. Service of others in the school, and in the community, is consciously cultivated. It has been a great blessing to be part of the DVCS family. We say it as a family because of the strong sense of community that we have experienced here from the staff and students. Our three children have been in DVCS for 6 years. Our oldest son is a proud graduate of DVCS and our other two daughters are continuing their education at DVCS. All our children have been safe, nurtured, cared for, and educated in a godly environment. All the stages of learning in classical education have developed a strong sense of value, confidence in faith and to persevere through challenges. DVCS prepares the children to be contributors to the community around them. We are assured our kids are in the right place.

What is truth? As parents, we seek to build a biblical foundation for our kids to answer that question. The teachers and staff at Delaware Valley Classical School help to reinforce the truths of God’s Word in every area of their education. From the curriculum to sports, from music to service and even discipline, truth is being taught and lived out daily. I see how each student is seen for their unique make up, is encouraged to think critically, and to use their gifts to respond to the world we live in. DVCS is equipping our kids from the very beginning to seek God’s truth and how to use it as a firm foundation.

We have nothing to say but thanks upon thanks to DVCS. Our children are respected and treasured by the school. The education they receive is a proper classical Christian education that is deeply rooted in a biblical worldview. The faculty, staff, and students are all preservers of God’s faithful remnant. To the faculty, thank you for all you have done for me. Continue to love and educate the students in a way that reflects Christ. To the students, continue to persevere through every task set before you. This journey is long and difficult, but it is certainly worth it in the end. Having attended this school since kindergarten, I have seen the end result of this unique education. I am grateful for every small way I have grown and matured throughout these thirteen years.

My first piece of advice would be to keep your nose to the grindstone and continue working hard and diligently. If you work hard and utilize good time management, you will see amazing results that you might not have even known that you could accomplish. My second piece of advice is to take advantage of the amazing teachers and staff you are blessed with at DVCS. Each and every person there knows you by name and wants the absolute best for you! This is a blessing that is not to be taken for granted but is to be taken advantage of.
